Hamilton #3 Response

Examine the epics The Iliad, The Odyssey, and The Aeneid. What similarities do they have in the course of these tales?

The Iliad and Odyssey written by Homer, (though some historians believe otherwise) and the Aenead written by Virgil are all epic poems. All three poems allow for readers in our time to see the ways of the ancient Greeks from a primary source. They each focus on a main character, in the Iliad, the main character is Achilles a nearly undefeatable warrior save for his heel. The Odyssey is really a continuation of the Iliad focusing on Odysseus, and his long and perilous journey home after the fall of Troy. The Aenead tells of Aeneas, a character already established in the Iliad, and his wanderings until he reaches Italy. Though all the poems play off each other and seem similar they tell three different stories.
